"The way in which India engages in global issues is something very important to the US," Lawrence H. Summers, assistant to the US President for Economic Policy and director, National Economic Council said at a function organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Just ahead of US president Barack Obama's maiden visit to India scheduled in November, Summers said there is no disagreement between India and the US on any major issue.

He said India is an important partner for the US in supporting a global framework that encourages macro economic cooperation. India will also play an important role in reducing imbalances in efforts that contain state-sponsored terrorism, he said. At present Pakistan is one of the leading supporters of the US in this direction.

Rajiv Kumar, director general, Ficci said Indo-US relations in the coming years will become less transaction oriented, and turn long-term in nature.

US President Barack Obama is slated to visit next month. He is likely to visit the scenes of the terror attack in Mumbai.
