Indian delegation to attend Olympics closing ceremony

A five-member Indian delegation, including Archery Federation of India Vice-President and Member of Parliament Kiren Rijiju, on Saturday left for Beijing to study how the Olympic organisers made it the best-ever Games.

Rijiju, also a member of the Commonwealth Organising Committee, was nominated by the Indian Olympic Association to take the 11-day trip to the Chinese capital, where it will visit all the venues for the benefit of the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be staged in New Delhi, a press release said in New Delhi on Saturday.

The trip will conclude with the closing ceremony on August 24.

Dubai, Aug 16 (IANS) Two Indians were killed and four others injured in a road accident in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the car they were travelling in hit a road divider and overturned on the Sharjah-Hamriya road leading to the emirate of Umm Al Qawain.

Those injured are Nibal Hashim, 23, Shahih Mohammed, 28, Sunil Kumar, 35, and Sharik, 30. They are being treated at the Khalifa Hospital in Ajman.
