IPL molestation: Chargesheet within a week

Delhi Police have decided to file the chargesheet in the IPL molestation case within a week. The reason: Both the accused and victim are foreigners. Police sources said the investigation in the case is almost complete and statements of all the persons concerned have been taken.

“The US national had come to India two months ago on a tourist visa. As the cricketer also wants to leave India, we have to expedite the probe,” a police officer said. The accused Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach is in Delhi and the police are in regular contact with him.

Sources said an Israeli woman, the US national’s friend, may also be questioned. She and the American woman had allegedly been threatened by five RCB members to withdraw the case in the hospital.

“Pomersbach has been questioned several times. If required, he will be called for questioning again. We have also questioned RCB player KP Appanna and team manager Avinash Vaidya. Sahil Peerzada, who was injured in the assault, has also given his statement,” said a senior police officer said.

The police have also recorded the statements of 12 persons, including the hotel staff and friends of the victim.

Appanna had recorded his statement with the police on Monday, in which he admitted that he had accompanied the Australian to the hotel room, where Peerzada and his girlfriend were staying. Appanna told police that he had noticed that Pomersbach’s hand was injured in the hotel lobby.
