Iran on Tuesday supported the move to resume dialogue between India and Pakistan, saying it welcomed direct talks and expressed its willingness to help the process if required.

"We have always welcomed direct negotiations between India and Pakistan. We feel direct negotiations will succeed much faster," Iran ambassador to India Seyed Mehdi Nabizadeh told reporters here.
"Iran, being a friend of India and Pakistan, can play a role in facilitating the negotiations if there is any need...," he said.
He was commenting on India's offer to have foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan.
On the proposed, Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline issue, Nabizadeh said, “Our negotiations with Pakistan have gone ahead ... We have kept our doors open for India to join the project. It (Iran) cannot wait indefinitely.”
