Janpath to Faridabad: On Sunday morning, a Metro ride for PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled by Delhi Metro on Sunday to inaugurate the extension of the Badarpur Line that will connect the satellite city of Faridabad to the national capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled by Delhi Metro on Sunday to inaugurate the extension of the Badarpur Line that will connect the satellite city of Faridabad to the national capital.

Modi boarded the Metro at the Violet Line's (Line 6) Janpath Station at around 10am to reach Faridabad's Bata Chowk Station. He took passengers and Metro officials by surprise, as he was scheduled to take a chopper to Faridabad. He interacted with the regular commuters, who also took selfies with the Prime Minister.

Union ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Virender Singh, Rao Inderjet Singh and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) chief Mangu Singh accompanied the Prime Minister.

During peak hours (8am to 11am and 5pm to 8pm), the frequency of trains in this corridor will be 6:40 minutes while on non-peak hours there will be a train every 7:30 minutes. According to metro officials, the project has been completed within the sanctioned cost of Rs 2,494 crores and the line covers a length of 13.875 kilometres.
