Criticising the Government for not stopping the BCCI earlier on holding the IPL, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Monday sought to know whether the tournament was more important than the future of the nation.

“At a time when our country is getting ready for general elections and the entire administration is busy preparing for it, holding IPL is completely irrelevant,” Yadav told reporters in New Delhi.
He said the government should have stopped it earlier itself.
Describing the tournament as a “business venture” Yadav said that “government has involved itself in this business venture. It is not cricket. The government in the first place should not have allowed holding of this tournament at such a time. Is IPL bigger than the future of the nation?”
Yadav’s reaction came at a time when the organisers of IPL are shifting it to another country.
JD(U) is an important component of the BJP-led NDA alliance.
