India has declined Denmark’s offer to send a team of its top legal experts to visit India and explain why the extradition of 1999 Purulia arms drop conspiracy mastermind Kim Davy is untenable, as per Danish laws, to the Indian government and CBI.

"The Danish offer ... will be an exercise in futility and hypocrisy as it will serve no purpose as far as India's efforts to get Davy extradited is concerned. We have junked this offer," said a home ministry source.

The source added, "Such a team would only propagandise here the stated position of the Denmark government regarding its inability to appeal against the June 2011 order of the Danish High Court that had cancelled Davy's extradition."

Denmark's decision to not appeal was allegedly unilateral.

"The Danish legal authorities were to file the appeal in the Board of Appeals — which processes appeals in the Danish Supreme Court — within a fortnight of the June 2011 order, but they informed the CBI about not filing the appeal only after the deadline had lapsed," said a CBI source. "They could have appealed appeal again by June 30 this year but did not."
