The BJP website will soon have an online package of 12-16 political lessons on the party’s ideology.

Net surfers will be welcome to read them and appear for an online test on that lesson. If one successfully takes the tests at the end of each lesson, one will get a certificate that declares that the person has completed a “certificate course on basic BJP training”.

“This would be open to anyone, including a BJP worker,” said national executive special invitee Alok Kumar. “The lessons will give basic ideological information about the BJP, like about the ideas of Deen Dayal Upadhyay.” BJP chief Nitin Gadkari has given charge of the e-training programme to Kumar.

Gadkari also briefed the national office bearers on the e-training programme at their recent meet.

The aim: To reach out to urban, tech-savvy youngsters. A close aide of Gadkari said it was also aimed at clearing “common misconceptions” about the party.

Once the favourite of the urban voter in north, central and western India, the BJP has begun to lose out to Congress in cities. It lost all major cities except Ahmedabad and Bangalore in the last Lok Sabha polls.
