The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group was awarded the National Award for Excellence in Hospitality Education 2011-12 in the category 'Hotel undertaking skill development in the hospitality sector' by Minister of State for Tourism, Dr K Chiranjeevi on Friday.

The group's Project Disha, which is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility policy, seeks to assist school students and local youth, to have access to quality 'education leading to employment'. At present, there are 3,500 students, who have successfully passed out from the Disha Centres. The project includes employment oriented vocational training in the hospitality sector, computer literacy, spoken English courses and life skills training. More than 75% of students have been successfully placed in various jobs across the country, a spokesperson said.
The award was received by Dr Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and Managing Director of the group.
