Q1) What should one pick — a college of choice or the course?
This is a very common query that students and parents come up with.
Experts from the university, including Delhi University vice-chancellor Dinesh Singh, have stated many a time that one should always go for the course of his/her choice.
It is best to decide what you want to study and then look for colleges where you will get admission. If you go after the name of a college and then land up with a course that you never wanted to do, disillusionment will soon creep in.
Also some of the best teachers in the university come from not-so well-known colleges. Students from all colleges across the university have topped in the university exams. To sum up —choose course over college.
Q2) What would you like to tell students who want admission in Delhi University this year?
For all those students who are going to take admission in Delhi University this year, the most important thing is the absence of pre-admission forms.
No college will bring out any pre-registration forms unless an entrance test is being conducted for a particular course. The first cut-off list will be announced on June 15th.
Students just have to match their percentage with the college cut-offs and apply for direct
admission.
The only exceptions are for courses with entrance tests, pre registration for SC/ST and other reserved category candidates and for admission to St Stephen's College and Jesus and Mary College. For these three categories, students have to fill pre-admission forms.

Q3) What are the chances of getting selected if an applicant has dropped a year. How should they go about the admission procedure?
While most colleges don't put riders on the admission of these students, it is a good idea to contact colleges individually for more clarity.
Such students have a good chance of getting admission in DU. Their Class 12 percentage will be considered.
While applying for admission to Delhi University, such students will have to give a reason why they dropped one year and a brief record of what they did during the gap year.
If they were pursuing a short-term course or were in some other college, then the university will ask for proof of this — a roll number or mark sheet. Students will also have to submit a character certificate.
