With overwhelming victory of independent candidates it supported indirectly, Congress leaders are now repenting the party's decision of not letting them use its name or symbol during the election of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon.

The party's Haryana unit chief, Phool Chand Mullana, has termed the result as decisive mandate in favour of Congress.
“Congress could have swept the MCG polls had it decided to contest the polls on the party symbol. The decision to this effect should have been taken in conscience and in consultation with all leaders of the party,” said Rao Inderjit Singh, a senior Congress leader and the Member of Parliament (MP) from Gurgaon.
Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mullana said on Monday that the decisive in favour of Congress-supported candidates in the municipal election has once again proved that people of the state have endorsed the policies and programmes of the UPA government.
“People of Gurgaon have also indicated their dislike for the destructive and anti-progress attitude of the opposition parties,” he added.
Mullana said the candidates supported by his party swept the elections despite all efforts by opposition parties to misguide the voters.
