The party's Haryana unit chief, Phool Chand Mullana, has termed the result as decisive mandate in favour of Congress.

“Congress could have swept the MCG polls had it decided to contest the polls on the party symbol. The decision to this effect should have been taken in conscience and in consultation with all leaders of the party,” said Rao Inderjit Singh, a senior Congress leader and the Member of Parliament (MP) from Gurgaon.

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mullana said on Monday that the decisive in favour of Congress-supported candidates in the municipal election has once again proved that people of the state have endorsed the policies and programmes of the UPA government.

“People of Gurgaon have also indicated their dislike for the destructive and anti-progress attitude of the opposition parties,” he added.

“The result has proved that the people of the state continue to repose faith in the leadership of the Congress,” he added.
