A Delhi court on Wednesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing a students union president of a city college 11 years ago.

Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau sentenced Jitender alias Kalla to life imprisonment for the murder of Anil Bhadana, the then president of Satyawati College Students’ Union.
The quantum of punishment for killing the witness’s father within an hour of the incident will be pronounced tomorrow.
On March 11, the court had convicted Kalla for killing the Bhadana and K.L. Nayyar, father of Sumit Nayyar, who was Bhadana's friend and cultural secretary of the college union.
The court turned down the plea of the accused seeking leniency on the ground that the incident was the result of rivalry between student groups.
According to the prosecution, Kalla had shot dead Bhadana (26) after opening fire from his licensed pistol at a wedding on March 10, 1999.
Kalla pumped three bullets into Nayyar’s father at their Mukherjee Nagar house.
Kalla was arrested on January 24, 2000, after remaining elusive for over nine months. He is also facing trial for fleeing from police custody.
