Welcoming the lifting of ban on his book on Pakistan-founder M A Jinnah by the Gujarat High Court, expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh on Friday said it was a matter of satisfaction that the court had upheld freedom of speech.

"It is a matter of satisfaction that the court has lifted the ban on the book," Singh said in New Delhi.
He expressed dismay that the court had to be approached to uphold the constitutional rights to speech, write and express. "We all should think about it seriously," Singh said.
While setting aside the Modi government's order on August 19 to ban the book 'Jinnah-India, Partition, Independence', the Gujarat High Court observed that the notification fell short of the requirements of the provisions of the law under which it was issued.
