Lyngdoh laws haunt DU polls

The Delhi High Court on Monday ordered a fresh scrutiny of the nominations filed for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections and told the student body that polls will have to be conducted strictly in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court based on the Lyngdoh Committee report.

The ruling will create hiccups for many aspirants who had either taken fresh admissions after failing in exams, or were above the stipulated age. The most worrying clause for student leaders is the one that states that all candidates must have attained the minimum percentage of attendance set by the university.
