An employee of a hardware shop today claimed he was robbed of Rs 40,000 by motorcyclists outside a bank here but police has cast a doubt on his version after he was purportedly caught on CCTV camera talking to the bikers.

Mohan, who works at a hardware shop, claimed two motorcycle-borne men attacked him and fled with the cash when he came out of Punjab National Bank's Ashok Vihar branch after withdrawing Rs 40,000, a senior police official said.
He immediately informed police, which examined the footage of CCTVs installed outside the bank after recording his statement, the official said.
While examining the footage, the official said, they found Mohan talking to the bikers who he claimed robbed him.
"He is under our scanner. He might have hatched a plan to get robbed of with the help of his friends. The footage shows that he was talking with the bikers," the official said, adding they were interrogating Mohan.
