In a major security breach at the highly sensitive Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), a man managed to enter the airside of the airport on Monday evening and was caught when he was roaming near the aerobridge.

CISF officials — the force responsible for the security of the airport — claimed that the man had an expired Airport Entry Pass. However, the accused told the police that he entered without showing any identity card.
“We will interrogate the man, identified as Ram Lakhan, 50, to know the purpose behind his illegal entry. So far, he has told us that he was not carrying any pass. He is a native of Bihar and was living at a relative’s place in Kapashera” a police officer said. The CISF, on the other hand, claimed that Lakhan gained entry from the gate number 11 of the airport from where the catering van enters.
“He was looking for water near the aerobridge when an employee saw him. Founding his movement suspicious, the employee informed the CISF personnel at the gate,” a CISF officer said. “The pass had his photographs and other mandatory details,” the officer added. However, the police said that the photos were not his.
