Delhi police have arrested a small-time contractor from Bihar for attacking an elderly woman and decamping with articles from her house in Amar colony area of southeast Delhi. The accused Manoj was hired by the elderly woman Saroj Devi (62) to renovate her home ahead of her son’s marriage next month.

Manoj was held from Bihar’s Jamui district. “The house was renovated, repainted and the old furniture was also repaired. With this lead, police came to notice that Manoj is taking contracts of repair and renovation and he along with others had worked in the house,” Ajay Chaudhry, additional commissioner of police, southeast said.
