The west Delhi Police have arrested a man who allegedly faked his own death to evade the police. Parvez, a resident of Tilak Nagar, who is allegedly wanted in 14 cases of the Excise Act, was absent from court for the past two years.

Even after being arrested, Parvez claimed that he was the brother of the person the police were looking for. The police said that during the trial, Parvez’s family informed the court that he has died, following which the judge asked the police to verify it.

“On going to his address, we found that Parvez was not residing there,” said V Renganathan, DCP (west). The police then conducted a raid at another address. However, that, too, proved futile.

According to the police, they received a tip-off that Parvez was alive and living in the Raghubir Nagar area. On being thoroughly interrogated, he confessed to being Parvez and was arrested.
