Maruti CEO’s email hacked, two detained

The Gurgaon police have detained two Nigerians for hacking into the email of auto major Maruti Suzuki’s managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) Shinzo Nakanishi and sending fake job offers to aspirants.

According to sources, the police have asked the suspects to furnish details of their bank accounts.

“They have accounts in ICICI bank and we have asked them to give us transaction details,” said a senior police officer.

“We have detained the accused but several formalities need to be fulfilled before they are formally arrested. We have written to the Nigerian embassy,” the officer said.

The Nigerians were fleecing gullible job aspirants of their money by sending fraudulent offer letters. The victims were told to deposit money ranging from Rs 6,000 to Rs 60,000. The exact number of victims is not yet known, said a police official.

The police had earlier identified a Nigerian woman whose passport was used to open an account in a local bank.
