Terming as "shameful and disgraceful" the way controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen was being made to run for her life, eminent jurist Ram Jethmalani on Monday demanded that she be given complete security and right to live in India.

Referring to her plight in the Rajya Sabha, the nominated member said the same yardstick should deal with the cases of both Nasreen and renowned painter MF Hussain.
"There should be no double standards," he said, adding it was a "disgrace" to the judiciary and the system of governance that Hussain was forced to live in exile in Dubai while Nasreen is running for her life here.
Voicing similar concern, Sitaram Yechury (CPI-M) said different standards of the Government couldn't be allowed for Nasreen and Hussain.
"Please don't bring partisan politics, otherwise you will encourage terrorism," he suggested to the UPA government.
The members made these remarks while seeking clarifications on the statement on the Uttar Pradesh serial blasts.
