Service efficiency, cleanliness and comfort made Delhi Metro the favourite public transport system of the Capital, said the findings of the survey.

Conducted through random distribution of questionnaires among the commuters on all six operating lines, the survey shows that almost 90% of the commuters are highly or nearly satisfied with the quality of the services.

While 93% of the commuters were satisfied with its punctuality, 85% of the commuters felt that Metro stations and trains are clean and well-maintained. Comfortable journey in the Metro made 86% commuters satisfied.

"The survey was conducted in March across all the six operational lines. A total of 33,987 commuters were interviewed, which accounts for more than 2% of the total daily commuters on the Metro," said Anuj Dayal, DMRC spokesperson.

Regarding maintenance of punctuality, 6% commuters said that Metro needed improvement, 3% commuters felt that trains and stations should be tidier and cleaner while 4% felt that comfort level needs improvement.

According to the survey, 90% commuters are very happy with the ticketing facilities of the Metro, while only 3% commuters felt the need of improvement.

Last year was the most challenging for Delhi Metro as it failed to provide efficient and punctual service to its 15 lakh commuters due to repeated technical glitches either on track or in train.

Failing to identify or fix the problems, DMRC had to call engineers from different countries to find a solution.
