Soon after a cabinet level meeting held on October 11 gave an in-principle clearance to three proposed corridors in the third phase of metro network extension, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started groundwork.

The DMRC is keen to finish the R21,468 crore project by 2015 as proposed in its action plan. It is expecting to receive official approval for the proposed phase III by end of December.
"We have started topographic survey, geo-technical survey, station planning and alignment survey for the proposed Central Secretariat to Red Fort corridor and Jahangirpuri to Badli corridor," said Kumar Keshav, director (Projects) DMRC.
"The idea is to start physical work on these two proposed corridor immediately after receiving the minutes of the cabinet decision on the third phase," Keshav said.
