Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recorded the highest ever ridership figure of 16, 93,488 on Monday, which surpassed the earlier record set on February 14 when 16, 66,569 people travelled by the Delhi Metro. The second highest ridership was recorded on Tuesday with 16,73,801 people travelled by Delhi Metro.

“We are recording a ridership of over 16 lakh on each of the working day for the first time in this month. The average ridership which used to be around 15.5 lakh during weekdays till May is now touching 16.5 lakh in June,” said a spokesperson of DMRC.

He said: “Lot of people have started commuting by Delhi Metro due to summer hot. Besides, ongoing admission in Delhi University also contributed to this increase.”

The increase in ridership is mainly reported from Line-2 and Line-3/4 which account for almost 75% of the total passengers travelling by the Metro as on date, said DMRC officials.
