Metro commuters on the Gurgaon line had a difficult time on Friday as trains were delayed by at least 20 minutes due to a technical problem.
Trains on the extended Line 2, that connects the satellite city of Gurgaon with south Delhi, were delayed due to a technical problem in a train which was in service.
The delay led to rush in trains during the evening hour and queues could be seen at some stations.
Metro officials said the delay was for "some time" as a train was stranded at Sultanpur Metro Station due to technical failure.
"The train, with destination to HUDA City Centre in Gurgaon, got stuck at the platform in Sultanpur Metro station and it did not move for some time," a DMRC spokesman said.
He said a decision was taken then to withdraw the train from service and the passengers who had boarded it were transfered to a new train.
However, passengers claimed the train services were delayed for about 40-50 minutes.
More than a million people in the national capital take the metro everyday and it makes over 1,800 trips on a weekday.
The new-age transport system is expected to ferry two million people a day by the end of this year with the addition of three more lines by the start of the Commonwealth Games in October.
