Metro will implement monorail: CM

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday announced that Delhi Metro would study and implement monorail in the city. The first phase of the project would be implemented between Shastri Park and Trilokpuri (10.8km).

"Delhi Metro has been able to achieve a huge task of laying the Metro line in a big city like Delhi in an efficient manner and this is why the monorail project has been awarded to it," Dikshit said.

"We have already started studying the proposed project," said a DMRC source.

The DMRC would prepare a detailed project report, arrange for funding, prepare the alignment, identify lands and also decide on the rolling stocks, said sources.
