Minor dust squall lowers temperature by few degrees

The maximum temperature was 41.7° Celsius, down from the previous day’s 43.3. The Met office attributed the sudden cool to Tuesday’s thundershowers.

“The large clouds are part of a rain-bearing system that has passed over Delhi. These clouds have the tendency to dissipate, causing rapid lateral movement of the wind,” said the duty officer at Safdarjung Met office.

The wind moved at a modest 30km/hr during this period.

The minimum temperature, too, was a relatively comfortable 26.5, which is considered normal for this time of the season.
The good news is that another set of rain-bearing clouds has already caused some rains in Jammu and Kashmir and, as an after effect, is expected to prolong the relief from the heat in Delhi, the Met office said.

Ice-cream vendors and balloon sellers did brisk business at India Gate grounds in the evening, where families with children had gathered.

The maximum temperatures predicted for the next two days are 37° C 39° C.
