His family members have alleged that Tiwary was abducted, drugged and robbed of his gold jewellery, cash and mobile phone by unidentified robbers.

Refuting their allegations, the police have claimed that Tiwary, in his written statement, has not mentioned that he was drugged or robbed by the people who had asked him to sit inside their car. Also, there was no reference about his missing articles in the statement, the police said.

Prabhakar, DCP (east) confirmed Tiwary’s safe return and said, “In his statement, he told us that no force was used on him. He also he did not know how he reached Muzaffarnagar. Two medical examination conducted on him did not show any physical injury on him.”

Tiwary, who earned popularity as an activist in 2008 for exposing a major nexus between officers from the New Delhi Municipal Council, the police and the labour department using a ‘sting operation’, went missing from Ghazipur flower market on Thursday morning. He along with one of his staff members had gone to the flower market in his Wagon R car to purchase flowers in bulk for his two shops that he runs in the city.
