Various agencies stationed at the airport participated in a full-scale crash simulation exercise on Thursday.

The mock drill was done to check their preparedness in handling crisis situations at the airport.
The exercise, said Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) officials, was aimed at reviewing the rescue response procedures and readiness of multiple agencies in the event of an aircraft crash.
Apart from DIAL, which operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Air Traffic Control, various airlines, Central Industrial Security Force, Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Services and various city hospitals were part of the drill.
“We created a scenario which involved simulating an incoming flight’s crash during landing. The news of the crash was then announced. The airport fire services rescue vehicles reached the site along with ambulances and carried out the rescue simulations as expected,” a DIAL spokesperson said.
