Following an assurance from the transport department that auto fares would be revised by next Wednesday, the auto-rickshaw unions called off their Monday strike.

Auto-rickshaw unions said the officials have categorically stated that revised fares would be stamped by the Delhi Cabinet in its Monday meeting and will be notified on Tuesday after the Lieutenant Governor signs it.
“The officials have promised fares will be hiked from Wednesday. We will run autos on Monday,” Autorickshaw Chalak Sangh general secretary Rajendra Soni said.
The auto-rickshaw unions have been demanding fare hike for quite some time and had intensified their agitation after a steep increase in CNG prices last Tuesday.
Senior transport officials met the representatives of several unions and assured that their demands were being looked into sympathetically.
The transport officials also insisted that GPS devise will have to be installed in each auto-rickshaw eventually.
Blueline bus operators met Delhi's transport minister on Friday to demand a revision of bus fares due to the hike in CNG prices.
