At 8.20 am on Monday, a patrolling team of the Railway Police Force (RPF) found two bodies on the railway tracks near Okhla and informed the Government Railway Police (GRP). Almost an hour later, an 80-year-old senior citizen, who just found his grandson dead, called up the police to say that his son and daughter-in-law were missing. It took a while for the police to realise that the two calls were related. They later discovered that the three deceased were members of the same family. Saminder Singh Arora, along with his wife Mini, committed suicide after allegedly killing their 18-year-old differently abled son. Arora was a manufacturer of aluminium products, police said.

The first phone call
The RPF’s patrolling party found two bodies on the railway tracks. They informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) about the incident. “When the GRP personnel reached the spot, they found a driving licence with Arora’s name on it. The police also recovered a phone number written on a piece of paper from the victim’s trouser pockets. It was a Sydney phone number. The police then called the number. The man answering the call gave us the victim’s address in Sarita Vihar,” said Virender Singh Chahal, said additional commissioner of police (Southeast). Meanwhile, the second phone call from Arora’s father revealed that the two incidents were related.

The second phone call
Around 9:15 am, Daljeet Singh Arora called the police and told them that he found his grandson Karandeep dead. He also said his son and daughter-in-law were missing since Sunday night. On reaching the spot, the police rushed the boy to AIIMS, where he was declared brought dead. Meanwhile, another team was dispatched to find the parents of the boy. It was during that time that the GRP informed the local police about the two bodies on the railway track near Okhla. The local police rushed to the spot to find that the two incidents were related. The two different suicide notes confirmed that they committed suicide due to financial problems. Their son’s condition was another reason that forced them to take the extreme step.
