Buxi has been shifted to the intensive care unit of the city’s Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.

“After his surgery, he had shown a little improvement. But in the last 24 hours his condition has deteriorated. He has suffered multiple injuries and is critical,” said one of the doctors treating him, on condition of anonymity.

Buxi was operated for a clot in the brain. He also suffered multiple fractures in both legs and intestinal rupture from the blast that left 11 dead and around 65 injured.

Both the legs of Rattan Lal Shroff, 60, had been amputated from below the knees soon after the blast. On Tuesday, Shroff’s right thigh was also surgically removed to stop the infection from spreading.

Forty-one-year-old Harish Kumar was another victim who underwent amputation at the hospital on Tuesday, taking the total number of amputees to four. Both his legs had suffered multiple fractures. “His left leg was badly injured. We tried our best to save the limb, but the condition went on deteriorating. We had to amputate his lower left leg,” the doctor said.

Meanwhile, discharged victims have started showing up for follow-up dressing of wounds. Mohammed Allahudin, 40, a resident of Old Delhi’s Jama Masjid area, was discharged on Monday. He has been advised to have the dressing changed every alternate day.

“It is much better now. But the doctor said I would need to come regularly,” he said. He had splinter injuries in both his legs.
