DU’s Academic Council meeting, held to discuss conversion of remaining courses from annual to semester format, has approved a number of courses for the new system.

Humanities courses like Economics, English, History, Mathematics, Sociology and a few other science courses like Home Science and B.Sc. Applied Sciences have also been passed.
“The previous syllabus that had been followed in these courses has been bifurcated. After the Executive Council meeting, the final curriculum will be handed over to the teachers,” said Sanjay Kumar, member of the Academic Council and Vice President of Delhi University Teachers’ Association.
The change in pattern for all courses to the semester system is likely to expedite the evaluation process. The council will also review the relevance of internal assessment under the new semester system.
“We have made several changes but it is not yet a perfect model. The Vice-Chancellor has said that this model will undergo further improvement to make it perfect with greater flexibility for students and more interdisciplinary subjects,” added Kumar.
