With the fog giving way to a bright sun, it is time again to explore the bounties of nature at its full glory at the sprawling Mughal Gardens at Rashtrapati Bhavan that open for the public from Friday. The theme for Udyanotsav 2012 is 'Floral carpets' and highlights the idea of decorating lawns with different flowers.

The Mughal Gardens, contiguous to the main building of Rashtrapati Bhavan, cover an area of 15 acres comprising different portions. Patil inaugurated the Udyanotsav 2012 on Thursday. Apart from the theme of floral carpets, other special attractions this year are Cactus Corner and Bonsai Corner, which together have over 200 varieties.
"The credit for the idea of floral carpet goes to our gardeners," said Christie Fernandes, secretary to the President.
