Profession: Full-time politician. He is presently chairman of the Delhi Khadi and Village Industries Board.
Education: He did his graduation in Sanskrit from Varanasi. Presently he is doing his MA in Public Administration through correspondence.
Political career: Active in politics since his student days. He was a member of youth Congress. He first fought assembly elections in 1993 and won from the Hastasal seat. There has been no looking back since. He won from the same seat in 1998 and 2003 as well.
Family: Wife Savita Sharma is principal of Adarsh World School in Dwarka. His son is doing a course in Information Technology from Bharti Vidyapeeth. Daughter is studying fashion designing from National Institute of Fashion Technology.
Cars: Sharma claims he does not own a private car. He travels in a white Ambassador, which he gets in his official capacity as chairman of the Khadi Board.
