Soon after the opening of an automated multi-level parking lot at Sarojini Nagar by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) said that a similar project at Kamla Nagar will be completed by next year.

But the good news did not last even a week as a status report on MCD’s parking projects has revealed that works on at least 14 such projects of the civic body are stuck due to administrative hassles or some other reasons.
The proposed 14 automated parking lots are part of MCD's 41 parking projects.
According to the status report, among the conventional parking lots, work at Model Town, Munirka and Hauz Khas lead the race as 60% construction is complete. But the other projects have seen very little work. "There is a multiplicity of authorities in the city.
Administrative hurdles are met at every level, whether it is to shift a water pipe or remove a tree from a site. All that leads to delays," said Jagdish Mamgain, Chairman of works committee, MCD.
