The prosecution on Monday concluded its arguments in the Nanda hit-and-run case and referred to the blood samples, chance finger-prints and other evidence to claim that prime accused Sanjeev Nanda, grandson of former Naval chief SM Nanda, was guilty of crushing six people to death.

“Nanda was in an intoxicated state and his central nervous system was disturbed at the time of the incident,” special public prosecutor Rajeev Mohan said.

Arguing before Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar, he said, “The offence (of culpable homicide) was committed with the knowledge as well as the intention. Because, driving the vehicle at a high speed showed that he knew the consequences and his running away from the crime spot amid the presence of scattered body parts exhibited his intention.”

The prosecutor also claimed that the chance fingerprints lifted from the vehicle after the incident had matched with those of co-accused Manik Kapoor, to show his complicity in the offence.

The prosecutor also referred to the alleged inconsistencies in the statements of defence witnesses including Nanda’s grandmother regard injuries received by him. In more an hour-long argument, Mohan claimed that the police had seized blood stained clothes that matched Nanda’s blood group.
