NDPL workers agree not to go on strike

Following the submission of ASG, Justice Garg directed both the parties to sit together for discussion on July 5 at the headquarter of the discom and discuss the issues.

The workers of North Delhi Power Ltd (NDPL) on Wednesday told the Delhi High Court that they will not resort to any form of strike from July 1 as their employer had agreed to discuss their demands.

The workers have been demanding compensatory appointment of all dependents of deceased employees and payment of arrears.

They also want the number of working days to be reduced to five and the previous Delhi Vidyut Board employees, who were under CTC payroll, to be given regular pay scale.

Appearing for NDPL, Additional Solicitor General A.S. Chandhioke told Justice Mool Chand Garg that the distribution company was ready to meet the members of the Delhi State Electricity Workers Union.

Following the submission of ASG, Justice Garg directed both the parties to sit together for discussion on July 5 at the headquarter of the discom and discuss the issues.

The court, however, granted liberty to the workers’ union to approach the court in case their employer failed to comply with the assurance given to the court.
