New cluster bus route to connect four Metro lines

While integrating two public transport systems — bus with Metro — the transport department on Friday launched a new bus route under cluster 3, which will connect four Metro lines.

Route No. 234 — from Karampura in west Delhi to Harsh Vihar in north east Delhi — will touch the Gurgaon-Jehangirpuri line at Vishwavidyalaya, Dilshad Garden-Rithala line at Shastri Nagar, Inderlok-Mundka line at Inderlok and the Noida-Dwarka line at Karampura Metro stations.

The new bus route will cut through Delhi University on its way from north east Delhi to west Delhi and will also provide connectivity to Ring Road-Mudrika and Teevra Mudrika service at Mall road bus stop.

“People in north east Delhi can take this bus to reach any part of the city. This is our conscious decision to strengthen public transport in north east Delhi by running private-run cluster buses in that area,” Delhi transport minister Arvinder Singh said.

With the launch of this route, the total number of operational routes under cluster 3, 4 and 5 combined — which are being run by AB Grain Spirits Private Limited — has increased to six.

Singh said that the transport department is in process of setting up two more bus depots at Sunheri Nullah and Kushak Nullah which will cater to 450 buses.
