The Delhi Metro last month installed seven training simulators for the maintenance of different sub-systems in its training institute at Shastri Park. These simulators will help ensure high standards of reliability and safety of Metro trains.

A Metro train’s sub-systems include brakes, air supply, door system, auxiliary system, traction system, train air-conditioning and train control management system.
“The troubleshooting simulators replicate all the faults that may appear in a Metro train to train staff in diagnose a train’s faults effectively and quickly. The simulators will also allow them to practice replacement of critical components in a 3D virtual environment,” said HS Anand, director (Rolling Stock) of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
Meanwhile, said Anand, Delhi Metro will commission eight-coach trains in June this year. The first eight-coach train will roll in by October.
By end of 2013, 68 trains will be converted into eight-coach trains. They will be introduced on line 2 and 3 (Noida-Dwarka) — two of the busiest corridors of Delhi Metro.
