NGOs ease chaos at hospital

Bharat Raksha Manch, an NGO run by advocates, played an active role by easing the commotion at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

“Whenever such a tragedy occurs, there is chaos all around. So, we wanted to offer help to the injured and their relatives. We have also organised a blood donation drive and are ensuring that there is smooth interaction between doctors and patients,” said Anil Gupta, a member of Bharat Raksha Manch, who said that there was greater chaos inside the hospital due to lack of coordination between hospital staff and patients admitted.

The situation worsened due to lack of any systematic channel between the nurses, who were tending to the patients, and the doctors.

The NGO played an active part in providing legal aid to the victims too, along with the speeding up the hospital formalities for victims.

Another group led by Ashok Randhawa, president of South Asian Forum for People Against Terror, was distributing food and water to the relatives and patients admitted to the hospital.

“We have faced this situation during the Sarojini Nagar blast and we are aware of the kind of help required at this point. We got home-cooked food for the patients and their relatives,” Randhawa said.
