No power cut on match day

Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has announced to make these districts no-power cut zone and already started strengthening loose connections for uninterrupted view of the match.

The state-run electricity distribution company has directed the general managers of all the districts to appoint nodal officers in each zones of the town, and to publicise their contact numbers so that people could inform them in case of any outages on that day.

No breakdowns
S S Yadav, chief general manager, DHBVN, said power supply has been satisfactory for the last few days and his department will also ensure that it doesn't get disrupted because of breakdowns.

“On Saturday, we will ensure that Gurgaon becomes a no-power cut zone, especially during the match. We will try to ensure that there is no power cut when the match starts and people enjoy every bit of the game,” he said.

Yadav said the deputy general managers of an area would be made as nodal officer who could be contacted in case of power failure. "The faults in feeder or sub-stations would be repaired on emergency basis," he added.

Power supply to the industry sector would be curtailed to meet the demands in domestic and non-domestic (commercial) areas such as malls and hotels, officials said.

A spokesman of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam on Thursday said instructions have been issued to all substations and power controllers to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the match.

The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd also said it is ready to ensure maximum availability of power in Haryana during the ensuing summer and the approaching paddy season. Its managing director Sanjeev Kaushal said maintenance of thermal generating units is being carried out to ensure peak performance.

He said the fifth unit of 210 MW plant at Panipat Thermal Power Station is also being taken up for annual overhauling, starting Thursday, for at least 15 days.

“The 110-MW unit-3 of Panipat is already under planned shutdown since March 28,” he said.

On Thursday, most people in Gurgaon had come out to watch the Indo-Pakistan match in big screens. The mood was upbeat and even government offices were ‘unofficially’ shut down. With such frenzy in mind, officials have realised that ensuring uninterrupted power supply is one of the best ways to serve the people.
