'Not done anything wrong'

Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday said he has "done nothing wrong" and won't resign as accusations of his meddling in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise bidding are "politically motivated".

"If I had done anything wrong, I would have resigned. To resign because people have chosen to deliberately misrepresent you or misperceive you, means that you are giving more importance to other people's perception than to your own character and your own integrity," Tharoor told NDTV in an half-an hour long interview.

"I am not going to resign," he asserted.

"Obviously, I am not not going to be an embarrassment to the party. I am going to say vigorously that these charges are nonsense and this is false. They are politically motivated by some parties and in other words motivated by business interests of certain vested interests,” Tharoor said.

"To say that the party has left me cold, is not accurate,” he said.

Modi also alleged that Tharoor had asked him not to reveal the ownership of the company that won the bid.
