Faridabad circle, which includes district Palwal with a consumer base of about 4.5 lakh also, will now be covered under the SMS scheme.

Though Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) claims to have started this service from March 2, officials said about 15,000 consumers have been delivered electricity bills in 10 districts of Dakshin Haryana, including Faridabad, in the past two days.

DHBVN started sending information related to electricity bills to its consumers through SMS after successfully integrating the facility with DHBVN's billing data base," DP Dull, official spokesman of DHBVN said. Consumers will get three SMSes - first one intimating about bill amount and due date followed by another SMS, reminding 48 hours before due date of payment and the third one to intimate about receipt of payment. The SMS service is in addition to the hard copy of the bill delivered to the consumers, Dull said.
