NSG commando held with drugs

A National Security Guard (NSG) commando, believed to be part of a strike team which was assigned to tackle 26/11 terrorists, was arrested, along with an accomplice, with allegedly around 26 kg of a banned hypnotic drug worth around Rs 1 crore in the international market.

The NSG commando, identified as Kuldeep (27), a resident of Alwar district in Rajasthan, and his accomplice Naresh from Gurgaon were arrested by the south Delhi police on Tuesday with 940 grams Methaqualone.

Methaqualone is a sedative-hypnotic drug that is similar in effect to barbiturates, a general central nervous system depressant.

Delhi Police have informed the NSG about the arrest and investigation to trace the origination and routes used in supply of the drug has also been launched.

According to sources, the consignment of the banned contraband that is mostly processed in Pakistan was to be delivered to a Delhi based high profile drug dealer.

The police have seized the contraband and two motorcycles used in the commission of the offence.

The two accused were arrested from PVR Saket where they had come to deliver the consignment. The police also came to know that one of the accused was an NSG commando.

The police team laid a trap and deployed its men in plain clothes in the area. They then intercepted the two men on two Hero Honda motorcycles.

Kuldeep was on a red motorbike with Rajasthan registration number while Naresh was riding a black bike with a Haryana registration number.
