Office-goers to get free bus ride to Airport Metro

In a bid to attract office goers, Reliance Infrastructure, the concessionaire company of the 23 km Airport Metro Express, has decided to run a free feeder bus service from Delhi Metro’s three stations to Shivaji Stadium.

Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan station, which cater to a large number of officer goers, will be connected with the airport metro through the special feeder bus service from Tuesday.

Yojna Bhawan, Sardar Patel Bhawan and Hindustan Petroleum are among many offices close to Patel Chowk metro station, which caters to around 25,000 commuters daily.

The ministry of home affairs, Rail Land Development Authority and Central Secretariat are some of the offices close to Central Secretariat metro station, which caters to over 70,000 riders a day. Similarly, Nirman Bhawan and Udyog Bhawan are located close to Udyog Bhawan metro station, which registers over 20,000 riders daily.

The feeder bus will start from Airport Metro’s Shivaji Stadium station and end at Delhi Metro’s Udyog Bhawan station. On the way to Udyog Bhawan it will go via Gol Dak Khana, Patel Chowk, Rafi Marg and Central Secretariat. On the way back, it will take the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara lane.

“The new route will primarily cater to office goers,” said a spokesperson of the concessionaire company. Airport Metro, which registers a daily footfall of 19,000 commuters, expects to add to its ridership with this service.
