A 40-year-old MCD worker died on Tuesday after he fell from the top floor of an apartment in Ayur Vigyan Nagar in south Delhi's Defence Colony, where he had gone to check breeding of mosquitoes.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Mahesh Kumar, had climbed the top floor of a building of the Ayur Vigyan apartments, the residential flats of AIIMS, to check dengue breeding in the water tank. He fell off from the building while checking the water tank, police said.
A senior police officer said that they received a call about the incident at around 12.15pm. The victim was rushed to AIIMS where doctors pronounced him brought dead.
"We informed his family about the incident and the body was sent for post mortem examination and later handed over to them," said the senior officer.
Kumar's co-worker told the police that he had already checked 54 houses in the apartment before he went to the roof of the building from where he fell.
According to the senior officer, Kumar lived in Loni area in Delhi with his family and is survived by his wife and four children.
