A passenger flying from Dubai was caught smuggling assorted jewellery to India at the IGI airport by custom officials on Friday evening.

The custom department has pegged the value of the seized jewellery at R37.5 lakh, said Additional Commissioner of Customs Ashutosh Baranwal.
Mohammad Aoun Ekkeri was intercepted near the Customs Exit Gate of Arrival Hall on suspicion and was frisked.
"Four poly bags wrapped with brown colour adhesive tape were found concealed in his socks and one wrapped likewise and concealed in his underwear," said Baranwal. An invoice for 18 carats assorted jewellery valued at 2, 10,322 UAE Dirhams or Rs 23.66 lakh (approx) was also found.
"He was to get Rs 25,000 as carrier charges. Someone from Bhendi Bazaar, Mumbai, was supposed to call him up and take delivery of assorted jewellery," said Commissioner of Customs VK Goel.
