Tension was rife in the Lok Sabha on Monday as the House began discussion on the UPA-2's political "game-changer", the food security bill, with agitated BJP members almost climbing the speaker's table.

Non-UPA MPs stepped into the well of the House agitating against the 'corrupt' government and the acquittal of ex-Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in 1984 riot case.
Girija Vyas, who was presiding over the House, asked food minister KV Thomas to move the motion for passing of the bill. The UPA was in full strength while the Opposition benches were mostly vacant.
Thomas moved the motion highlighting the features of the bill amid the ruckus by the opposition. When it appeared that the government was keen to get the bill passed, the BJP members approached the Speaker's table and agitated fiercely, with some even attempting to climb the speaker's podium.
