As the UPA-II celebrated its second year in office, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely said it had been a “nightmare” due to its dismal track record in which it failed in checking corruption, tackling economic challenges and in fighting Naxal violence.

“The UPA has had a dismal track record in the last year. It was a nightmare for the government. A year which any government would love to forget. We fail to understand what is there for it to celebrate,” he said.
Jaitley said it was a “wasted opportunity” for the government as its credibility has “hit rock-bottom,” as it had failed in all areas of governance.
Reacting on similar lines, Left leader Niloptpal Basu said: “As far as the common people are concerned, UPA government has failed to address to vital issues that affect their lives; continuing rise in the prices of essential commodities as well as the corruption issues.”
