Deepika Padukone's, chashmish, act in her latest release seems to have struck a chord on campus. On day three of form submissions at Delhi University’s South Campus, we spotted many young aspirants and students sporting geek chic with aplomb. The top spectacle statements- colourful temple-arms and thick, square frames ala Deepika’s padhaku character, Scholar Naina, in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

"The nerdy look is fashionable right now. It looks good and is also comfortable,” said Prkriti Sethi, 21, a student of Kamala Nehru College. Mehak Aneja, a mass communication student from Indraprastha College for Women, said, “Wearing specs used to be a burden earlier but now, with Deepika sporting this look in her film, it has become a trend.”
Neha Sharma, 22, feels serious is classy. “It gives a no-nonsense, studious look which I think is very cool.”
Stylists say that spectacles may be stylish, but only if you carry them with care. “They should follow the trend only if it suits their face contours,” says Vikram Seth, fashion consultant.
